My First Time Trying Goldsmith Ramen…

Intro

Today was one of those grey, overcast days. I had some errands to run this morning, so I didn’t actually start hunting for food until past 3 in the afternoon. On a bit of a whim, I decided I was in the mood for a bowl of ramen, so I went looking for somewhere good to get my fix😇

Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever had proper Japanese-style ramen in Taiwan, so the flavor I remember has gotten a little fuzzy. My mental image of ramen has slowly been taken over by the Taiwanese-style version. This time I was determined to track down that taste I remembered!

I got to Goldsmith (極匠) around 3:00 pm and realized it looked exactly like the ramen shop in my memory~ they even had one of those machines that spits out tickets (I think it’s called a meal ticket machine?). Forgive this total ramen newbie for being clueless… anyway, this time I went with the 260 NTD tonkotsu vegetable ramen off the menu. Enough rambling, here are the menu and the food shots!

Goldsmith Ramen’s broth and toppings

The moment it arrived I was a little shocked by the ramen practically overflowing the bowl😖 how was I, one person, supposed to finish all this~ But I have to admit, the broth really is different from the Taiwanese style. It’s a rich, deep tonkotsu flavor, loaded with bean sprouts, cabbage, pickled bamboo shoots, and chashu. All I can say is it was seriously delicious. If you drink the broth straight on its own it can be a touch too salty, so I’d suggest alternating between a sip of broth and a mouthful of noodles and veggies.

If one bowl isn’t enough, you can get unlimited noodle refills, though I could barely finish even one bowl~ so no refills for me… The staff were super friendly too. They notice whatever you might need, and they kept telling first-timer me how to best eat it. So I personally really recommend this place~ That’s all from me for now. If you want to keep enjoying good food with me and avoid the duds, you can also follow my profile and IG😅 See you all next time…
