I Tried McDonald’s Brand-New McPlant Burger — Hot Off the Grill!
Intro
Meow meow everyone, it’s me, Mydondon! I heard McDonald’s launched a new burger today, so how could I not go and give it a taste? That’s why I made a special trip to McDonald’s today to grab one and try it out for you all.
Also, just so you know, the McPlant isn’t fully vegetarian, since it has cheese, mayo and onions (one of the “five pungent spices”), and it shares the same grill as the regular meat patties, so it doesn’t really count as fully vegan. That said, the patty really is made from plants like peas, plus some seasonings. Here’s a quick rundown of my thoughts on this burger…

Overall Thoughts
When I first bit into it, I honestly didn’t even realize it was plant-based meat! The whole thing really looks like a Big Mac, with the tomato and that sweet sauce. But once you really savor it, you do notice a slight difference — for instance, I felt the plant-based patty breaks apart more easily. A piece of pork might not tear easily even if you press hard on it, but the plant patty feels more like ground meat, with less of that satisfying chew.
If you ate just the plant-based patty on its own today, you’d probably figure out it isn’t real meat — but the McPlant piles on so many different sauces and pickles that you can’t really tell. All in all, the McPlant pulls off its goal of mimicking real meat pretty well, but there’s still a little room for improvement: with that many sauces it gets a bit cloying (and the sodium is really high too). Fix that, and it’d be even better!
