Ryan Trahan is a YouTuber, and about a month and a half ago he kicked off a wild challenge: cross the entire United States in 30 days, starting with just a single penny and whatever value he could squeeze out of that one cent along the way. The plan? To finally place that tiny little coin into Mr. Beast’s hands.
A Little Intro
Picture a blazing hot summer day. You’re trudging down the street under the scorching sun, thinking about nothing but getting home, cranking up the AC, and vegging out in front of the TV. And then, out of the corner of your eye, something catches the light. A flash, sharp and direct, like sunlight bouncing off a koi in a pond, shooting straight into your eyes.
It’s money! Money, just lying there on the ground, waiting for you! You practically trip over yourself rushing toward it.
Ugh… it’s just one cent. What can you even do with a single penny? Heck, bending down and squatting to pick it up probably costs me more energy than the coin is worth. That’s probably what most of us would think. But you might not realize just how powerful one cent can be, and there’s a creator overseas who can prove it to you.

Every step of the journey, everything he goes through, gets documented in daily uploads for everyone to follow. And it’s not just that, this trip has a much bigger goal too: raising money for people living in poverty across America. He’s using his own influence to change someone’s life, and every single penny donated by viewers during his cross-country journey gets given away to that cause.

The moment someone donates $50,000 in a single shot, he has to go back to square one and start his journey all over again from one cent. This rule makes watching his daily videos genuinely nerve-wracking. I even found myself worrying that, with donations pouring in so enthusiastically, he might never make it to the other side of the country.
From selling water on the beaches of Los Angeles, to telling jokes for cash in Las Vegas, to working as a bike delivery rider in Texas, he always finds a way to get what he needs through whatever means necessary. No stealing, no cheating, just inching toward his goal one honest step at a time. You can’t help but admire his sheer determination.
All the Colorful Characters He Meets Along the Way
Even after getting reset over and over, he keeps picking himself back up, and along the way he meets all kinds of people. Watching his videos doesn’t really feel like watching a challenge at all. It feels more like watching someone savor life, wandering through every corner of America and running into generous, kind-hearted folks.
Some people choose to help others when they’re able to, sometimes complete strangers they’ve never met before, yet they’re still willing to lend a hand. I think that’s exactly where the warmth of the world lives. Turns out the most beautiful scenery in the world really is a pair of hands reaching out to give!
