I Caved and Tried 7-Eleven’s Nearly-NT$100 Morinaga Matcha Snow Pie, and It Was Surprisingly Delicious!

Hey hey, everyone, welcome back~ It’s me, Mydondon! Today’s a slightly shorter convenience-store snack unboxing post, so let’s get right into it!

Intro

Every time I spot something at the convenience store that looks delicious but is also crazy expensive, I always end up deliberating for ages. But today I just couldn’t hold back and finally grabbed an ice cream bar I’d been curious about for the longest time: Morinaga’s Matcha Milk Caramel Snow Pie. This thing costs nearly NT$100 at 7-Eleven, and because of that price tag you don’t actually see it around very often. Even the shop at school didn’t stock many, and I happened to snag the very last one.

The Taste and Texture of Morinaga’s Matcha Milk Caramel Snow Pie

Ta-da, here’s a shot of the product itself. It’s about the size of your phone, and honestly it looks pretty tempting. As for how it tastes, personally I think there’s a real matcha note to it. The moment you bite down you get a tiny hint of that bitter matcha flavor, and the ice cream inside is light, soft, and really good. Paired with the wafer shell, it’s your classic snow pie. I’ve eaten plenty of these kinds of bars before, and they’re usually either cloyingly sweet or so hard you can barely bite through them, but this one is just right, and it makes you go for one bite after another. On the deliciousness front, it’s pretty close to a perfect score.

That said, there are still a few spots where it falls a little short. My guess is that because there’s quite a bit of air whipped in, it melts pretty easily, so by the time you get to the end of the wafer it feels a touch soggy and it’s easy to get your hands messy. The other thing that surprised me is that this ice cream only has around 20-something grams of sugar, which is literally half of what a typical frozen treat has, making it a great little weekend reward for yourself.

Alright, thanks for reading, everyone! If you enjoyed this post, feel free to hit like and follow, and I’ll see you in the next one~

Next Wednesday there’ll be another unboxing of a tasty treat I picked up at the convenience store, and if the response is good I’ll keep doing these going forward!
