The First Week of August Recommended Playlist
Here’s the Spotify playlist:
For “だんだん早くなる” (Gradually Getting Faster) in the Spotify playlist, I could only find the original artist’s version.
Here’s the YouTube playlist:
“Kiss You” by “One Direction”
This week I’ve been busy writing my Penghu travel posts, which means I keep thinking back to the scenery and the vibe over there, soaking in those island memories all over again. So naturally I felt like listening to something with a bit of a country feel, the kind of song you’d play on a road trip. Songs like this always give you that feeling of cruising down the road with the sea breeze in your face, and before you know it you’re swaying along with the music.
“If you don’t wanna take it slow (c’mon). And you just wanna take me home. Baby, say yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And let me kiss you.” If you don’t want to take it slow, if you just want to take me home, then just say yeah~ yeah~ yeah~ yeah~ yeah~ and let me kiss you. This song is “Kiss You” by “One Direction,” and I think the best part is the rhythm. It always gets me putting this song on repeat without even realizing it. All I can say is, a classic is a classic forever!
“Bibia Be Ye Ye” by “Ed Sheeran”
If there’s a song that makes you picture a golden beach and all the good things in life, it’s got to be “Bibia Be Ye Ye” by “Ed Sheeran.” “Bibia Be Ye Ye” means “everything will be alright” in a native language of Ghana. Maybe you’re feeling down right now, maybe your boss has been on your case all day,
maybe your boyfriend or girlfriend is giving you the silent treatment, but everything will be alright, Bibia Be Ye Ye. Did you smile today? Face every challenge with a happy heart, every single day!
“Hula Hoop” by “Omi”
Another song that’s been stuck in my head is “Hula Hoop” by “Omi,” which is basically the definitive song about sunshine, summer, and love! “Round and round your loving winds me up. Like a hula, hula hoop, hula, hula hoop, oh.” Round and round, your love gets me all wound up,
just like a hula~ hula hoop~ hula hula hoop~ oh~. If you haven’t heard it yet, go give it a listen. You might just find yourself swaying along to the beat like a hula hoop too.
“From 59 to 109” by “Nickolas Jones”
But here’s the thing: traveling isn’t just about visiting the sights. Honestly, half the time you’re in the car or back at the hotel, and that’s when you really want to chat with your travel buddies. Sharing the beautiful little things in life always makes everyone ridiculously happy. But inevitably there’ll be moments when you run out of things to say, and that’s exactly when you should share a song. “I’ve learned my lesson oh so well. There’s only one thing I have found. When nothing else remains to do. You should just stick to your own kind.” I’ve learned my lesson well, and I’ve only found one thing: when there’s nothing left to do, just stick close to your own. When you’ve got nothing to do, just stick to your own kind. This song is “From 59 to 109,” sung in the beautiful voice of “Nickolas Jones.” He’s a truly, truly niche artist, and “From 59 to 109” has only been heard by 400-something people, but I think it’s absolutely gorgeous. If you end up loving this song as much as I do, why not drop the artist some big encouragement in the comments?
“だんだん早くなる” by “Soraru x Mafumafu”
There’s another song I think is perfect for listening to in the car: “だんだん早くなる” by “Soraru x Mafumafu” (originally sung by Hatsune Miku). Even if you can’t understand the lyrics, you can still feel that increasingly light, upbeat tempo, and you can sense the joy gradually spilling out of the singers’ voices. “だんだん早くなる だんだん楽しくなる だんだん早くなる だんだん笑顔になる” Gradually getting faster, gradually getting more fun. Gradually getting faster, gradually breaking into a smile. It’s perfect for everyone to sing along to happily together in the car.
“Buy” by “Nature Q (自然捲)”
And don’t forget the single most important part of any trip: shopping like crazy, buy buy buy! This song, “Buy” by “Nature Q (自然捲),” fits the theme perfectly. I highly recommend that anyone who runs a shop put this song on repeat. And once the money starts rolling in, you can just send me a little red envelope as thanks 😎.
“Hey Good Lookin'” by “Why Don’t We”
The last song, hmm… I feel like you’d hear it out on the street. It sounds just like the kind of slicked-back-hair boy band you’d run into on a busy street, singing this song while taking off their hats to gesture for you to toss some money in. “Hey, good looking, how you doing? Hey, good looking, what you doing? To me, to me, to me?” Hey beautiful, how have you been lately? Hey beautiful, what have you done to me? Hey, hurry up and toss the money in! (takes off hat)
Alright, thanks so much for reading all the way to here! If you’re into this kind of good-music recommendation, give me a follow and let’s keep marching toward 200 followers together!
